On September 11th, I will talk about mindfulness, arts and mental health at the Eamba Exchange. Eamba European Associations for Mindfulness is an international association bringing together Mindfulness Teachers’ Associations. The eamba member associations aim to connect, inspire and support each other by promoting the quality of teaching evidence-based mindfulness programs as well as of the quality of teacher training.
We know form studies and our own experience, practicing mindfulness can have many possible benefits. But did you know active and passive engagement in arts also does this? In 2019 the World Health Organization (WHO) publishes a report with 900 studies that emphasize the global evidence on the role of the arts in improving health and overall well-being. Jolien translates the evidence-based health care intervention into art intervention in which she connects scientific insights (NeuroArts), ancient wisdom and practical exercises.
Her programs support dealing with negative thoughts differently, more self-awareness, stress reduction, joyfulness, meaning making and resilience.
In this online Exchange Jolien will explore how art and mindfulness support your mental health, will share some of her practice-based programs and will answer all your questions as best as she can.
With a background in Applied Arts and health care, Jolien Posthumus curates Programs and Art Meditations that explore the relationship between art, mindfulness and mental health. As trailblazer and consultant Art & Mental Health, Jolien supports cultural and healthcare institutions to implement the positive impact of art on mental health in their programs. Jolien has pioneered Mindfulness in Museums, art experiences that promote mental health and broaden our view of the world.
Thanks to the team of Eamba for this wonderful invitation. Looking forward to connect with peers from all over Europe as we aim to foster a network of museums and galleries, fellow mindfulness trainers and partners to improve, learn and co-create.
